Status of IRS Criminal Investigation Special Agent Hiring

A career with Criminal Investigation is an excellent way to put your accounting skills to work. It is a unique combination of law enforcement and accounting that makes the IRS special agent a premier financial investigator.

GS-5/7 Candidates
In March 2005, applicants were notified via email that they passed or failed the Skills Assessment Center (interview). Those that passed were advised, due to budget uncertainties, that Criminal Investigation must delay making tentative job offers, and expects to make tentative job offers by August 2005 (this comment should be updated, if possible/applicable). Those who receive the tentative offers from this hiring initiative will likely enter on duty (EOD) in FY06 - October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006.

If you applied for the Special Agent GS-5/7 vacancy and have not received an email advising you of your results, please email: cincinnatirecruitment@ci.irs.gov

GS-9 Candidates
We have completed the interviews and made tentative, NOT FINAL, job offers to all the selected GS-9 candidates. Currently, these candidates are in the midst of completing their pre-employment screenings. Once a candidate has cleared the screenings, he/she will most likely be scheduled for classes at Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).
