- 1Clerk
ClerkIf you are meticulous and prefer a hands-on job that requires an eye for detail, consider the essential position of Clerk. This role is responsible for sorting and opening mail, maintaining files and records, and filing tax returns and other documents. At the entry level, you would receive a Grade/Pay of GS-2 or GS-3 or GS-4.
- 2Mail & File Clerk
Mail & File ClerkFull time and seasonal Mail and File Clerk opportunities are available for individuals with the ability to perform such tasks as maintaining records and other documents, processing outgoing mail, and following up on shipments to ensure delivery. This position is typically less than a year, but you may be called back when work resumes. The Grade/Pay level for this role is GS-3.
- 3Financial Clerk
Financial ClerkIf you have a knack for understanding financial transactions, you should consider the role of Financial Clerk. You must be proficient at performing a variety of finance-related clerical duties, from extracting information from tax returns to reconciling records, to tracking and filing information. The Grade/ Pay level for this role is GS-5.
- 4Cash Processing Clerk
Cash Processing ClerkIf you are good at handling money, the position of Cash Processing Clerk may provide you the kind of financial opportunity and responsibility you’re looking for. Your duties will involve a number of clerical tasks, such as maintaining records, screening documents, forms and letters, and other administrative tasks. The Grade/Pay level for this position is GS-5.
- 5Contact Representative
Contact RepresentativeIf you enjoy interacting with others, the role of Contact Representative may be right for you. This position provides administrative and technical assistance to individuals and businesses primarily over the phone and/or in person. At the entry-level, you would receive a Grade/Pay of GS-5.
- 6Data Transcriber
Data TranscriberIf you have good attention to detail, strong data entry skills and are comfortable working in front of a computer throughout your shift, you could qualify to become a Data Transcriber. This position enters information from tax returns into the IRS computer system. At the entry level, you would receive a Grade/Pay of GS-3 or GS-4.
- 7Tax Examiner
Tax ExaminerIf you want to apply your accounting skills to a role that puts you directly in touch with numbers, you should be one of our Tax Examiners. This position reviews tax returns for accuracy and completeness, reviews and codes tax returns for computer processing, resolves errors and corresponds with taxpayers to obtain any missing information. At the entry level, you would receive a Grade/Pay of GS-4 or GS-5.
- 8Mail Processing
Equipment Operator
Mail Processing Equipment OperatorIf you have the necessary leadership skills to guide others as a first-level supervisor, you could be responsible for planning and prioritizing the work of subordinates. You would also evaluate their performance on the job, offer advice and instruction, and consider ways to make improvements. This Grade/Pay level for this role is GS-7.
