As an IRS Contact Representative, you will research multiple computer-based programs and resources to provide tax-related assistance to Americans over the phone. This role offers a unique, non-repetitive workday that showcases your communication skills while offering rewarding public service opportunities. Are you ready to make a difference?
As a Contact Representative, you will be trained to use your communication and technical skills to answer taxpayer-directed inquiries on tax law or account-related issues and you'll make crucial determinations that will affect a taxpayer's various federal tax matters. You’ll interact with individuals, their representatives, certified public accountants, and tax attorneys. Your duties may vary based on the area you are assigned.
These entry-level positions do not require you to have prior tax experience. Our top-notch training programs will teach you everything you need to know to prepare you to be successful as a professional IRS Contact Representative. The IRS also offers continued professional education to keep your knowledge of the tax law sharp and your skills up to date.
There is more than one way to qualify for the contact representative position. This position relies heavily on your ability to research taxpayer accounts, analyze information to provide guidance to taxpayers, and exceptional customer service skills. No degree is required; however, a degree alone may qualify you.
